Belgian Wynendale
Difficult to find in the United States, this spicy jewel of West Flanders is crafted with full-cream cow's milk following an ancient tradition of Bourgogne. The name Wynendale is undeniably linked to medieval Burgundian history. Wynendale Castle, amid the mysterious woods and the green pastures of Flanders, was referred to as the "castle of delight" by Burgundian Dukes. A delicacy, this cheese is ideal for dessert or a luxurious snack.
Made from pasteurized cow's milk.

Olde World Cheese
Great with Malbec wine, Rodenbach Grand Cru or Timmerman Gueuze. Paired with pears and walnuts with french baguette. This cheese reminds me of a combination of Gouda, mild cheddar and Limburger. The cheese is very buttery and nutty with a wonderful aroma from washing the rind with Brevibacterium Linens, Truly world class cow's milk cheese.

One of my favorites
A typical 'stinky' cheese with a strong smell, but a much milder delicious flavor. Some would consider this challenging because of the smell, but if you ignore that, it's hard to beat this one.

Excellent Cheese
I was looking for smooth, rich tasting cheese and that's exactly what I found. The smell is somewhat strong but the taste is worth it.

What's that smell?
The taste was fairly good if you could get past the smell. Tough to get the smell off your fingers even after washing your hands. It seemed to be more palatable melted or used as an apple dip.

A Great Cheese Selection!
I purchased this cheese for the first time and it is a suberb selection as an appetizer or after dinner cheese. I also used the Belgian Wynendale cheese to prepare a broccoli au gratin dish by melting the cheese in a saucepan, adding 50% cottage cheese, and ground sage seasoning. Combined with bread crumbs and added to the trimmed broccoli prior to baking. The au gratin was super and the Belgian Wynendale added a unique flavor to this popular vegetable dish.

Don't Pass This One Up
What a superb cheese this is! It has a lovely texture that softens deliciously on the tongue and gives a burst of flavor. I did not find this a particularly pungent cheese. I would say it is just right for anyone who wants cheese that has real depth of flavor and character. This is one of my family's top favorites from Igourmet and we will certainly be ordering it again. We eat it during our meals as well as afterwards. It is good with bread and with fruit, particularly pears and apples, also with nuts. I highly recommend this cheese to anyone who likes flavor in food.

Best cheese in the world?
Several reviewers comment on the pungency of this cheese, which has me a bit puzzled. Yes, it smells a little, but certainly not overwhelming. Before eating, let this cheese warm up to room temperature, and you will be able to taste one of the most complex, yet subtle, cheeses you have ever had. And surprisingly enough the flavor keeps getting more intense as you eat it. In my opinion, perhaps the best cheese I have ever had. Oh, and my wife definitely agrees!

Flavor surprise
Fantastic cheese. The smell puts you off, but the smell gives no clue to the fine and wonderful taste of this cheese. Especially worth while if you aren't partial to smelly cheeses.

Not for the faint hearted
Strong taste and smell for those who like this kind of cheese.
