Made in a town with the same name since the early 14th century, Chaource is the most famous artisanal cheese from the Champagne region of France. This decadent cheese is delicious at any stage of ripeness and has a slight mushroom scent with a rich, creamy flavor. It is not dissimilar to Brie or Camembert, but it has an even creamier texture, especially when aged. The cheese is made in miniature wheels that give it an elegant appearance for service with champagne.

Love this cheese!
This is my absolutely most favorite cheese...it is so creamy and buttery that it actually melts in your mouth. I smear a glob on a very neutral water cracker and could eat the whole wheel in one sitting. I-Gormet does a wonderful job of packing and let's you pick the delivery date so it needn't sit on your porch for hours. I'll be ordering more as long as it is in season.

Perfectly Mature on arrival - Chaource
All the cheeses we ordered arrived perfectly mature and ready to eat. It was almost like we purchased them from the neighborhood affineur in Paris. This is a great way to buy the hard to get speciality cheeses that you may not find in the local Whole Foods.

Wonderful texture!
Shared this cheese with friends and everyone loved its rich creamy texture. Really good with bread and olives, and a good white wine. Will buy again.

We thought we would try this instead of Brie. Other buyers had given this cheese great reviews. They were not wrong. Excellent cheese

Maybe Hilo, HI is too far for soft, young cheese
This was the second time I was ordering a soft cheese and this is the second time I'm disappointed. I jumped on the cheese right away as it had already started to go bad, with a faint smell of ammonia. I'm not sure what the problem is; maybe the trans-pacific flight, or the tropical heat. Clearly, from the review, the mainland people enjoy this cheese.

Very nice but a little too salty
I nice addition to any cheese plate, but I expected a little more decadence and a little less salt.

Consistantly very good
Nice taste, smooth consistency, spreads well, very edible rid. I re-order several times a year. Advise...remove or fold down the paper wrap before serving...cheese tends to stick to paper if you don't.
