Danbo is one of the most popular cheeses in Denmark. Served for breakfast or just for snacks, this Swiss-style cheese is usually on hand in the Danish kitchen. Made from partially skimmed cow's milk, this semi-soft cheese has a mildly sweet, nutty flavor.
  • Made from pasteurized cow's milk.
  • Photo depicts whole 14 lb. form of cheese.
  • We cut and wrap this item by the 1/2 pound.
  • Please contact us if you would like to purchase the whole form.

Cheeses Ordered
The products were well packaged and all received on the day I requested. The product was fresh and matched the description. I would definitely use again for cheeses I can't get at the grocery store.

Perfect Snacking Cheese
I got this Danbo along with several other cheeses as a gift. The Danbo was the most mild of all the cheeses. It was great with crackers and also in grilled cheese. It has a nice semi-firm texture that's easy to cut.

Danbo, Seedless
I have not been able to buy this cheese since being in Denmark. I love the taste. I Gourmet is the only location that I could find to get it in the USA.

A Danish take on the Swiss
Nice texture, typical Swiss -- style taste but not as nutty

Danbo Cheese
I like the pound cut of Danbo Cheese. I eat it like candy.

Danbo Cheese
I love the taste of this cheese, however, I also like to cut it into thin slices with a hand held cheese cutter. The 8 oz. packages are difficult to work with when cutting the cheese. Oftentimes the cheese will break off in a chunk when cutting a thin slice. I know the taste is the same, but for some reason I prefer the very thin slices I can obtain from cutting a slice of a brick of cheese. If you sold bigger bricks than 8 oz (ie 2 lb), I think that cutting slices would be so much easier. (A note from igourmet.com: Please contact us if you would like to purchase a larger piece or would like to buy the whole form.)

Danbo Cheese
I wish you sold this in larger sizes since it's very difficult to use my cheese slicer to cut the very thin slices from your packages. As a kid, I would get a 7 lb package sent to my house for birthdays, etc. I wish you would sell 2 or 3 pound options. (Note from igourmet: Please contact us if you want to buy whole form.)

YUMMY Cheese
While traveling in Denmark and my favorite breakfast was just going down to the nearest bakery and buying rundstykker (breakfast rolls)topping it with Lurpak butter and THIS cheese. Now back in the US, I have craved and missed this breakfast and I refuse to live without it any longer. I found a reciepe for the breakfast rolls, I ordered the butter and THIS cheese from this website and YUMMY -- IT IS SOOOO GOOD! (this is a VERY strong tasting cheese) It did not take them long to deliver. I had my order delivered on the 3 business days.

Strong Cheese
We served this at a Wine and Cheese party to a group of middle aged adults. The reaction was mixed. They either really liked it or did not like it at all.

Amazing melted on top of croutons
I made French onion soup and toasted homemade croutons with a little EVOO. I topped the croutons layered on the soup with the shaved Danbo. Broiled until cheese bubbled. OOOOH!
