The history of Douwe Egberts starts in 1753, when a husband and wife opened The White Ox, a gourmet shop in the North of Holland. Their offerings focused on coffee, tea and tobacco; products that were imported from the Far East and traded in Amsterdam. Sales grew rapidly and soon Douwe Egberts started a wholesaling and distribution business. They built their first coffee roasting plant in 1919 and began exporting their premium quality coffee in 1930. By 1960, Douwe Egberts accounted for more than half of Dutch coffee exports.

Fabulous!
This is the most delicious coffee I've ever tasted! It was served at a university's restaurant, hotel and hospitality management program's faculty club (McCutcheon House). Several coworkers and I were late going back to work because we were staying to enjoy the coffee with dessert! When I asked what it was, I was told it was Douwe Egbert's. Dismayed I couldn't find it at local grocers, I was ecstatic to find it at igourmet!

coffee is coffee right?
NO! when a 3 cup a day coffee drinker orders their brand online...you better believe it is worth it! my 1st experience with DE was at a casino resturant and i asked if they sold it. they let me know that online was the only place you can get it. i checked out; prices were the same or better than most "good" coffees. every single morning at that 1st sip i say out loud, man that is sooo good! :)

Using with my keurig coffee machine. Not as good as the coffee I get in the casinos that also serve douwe egberts. Price very good.

Excellent coffee
We had a cup of Douwe Egerts coffee at our local casino and loved so much that I came home and found it on the internet. We made a pot of coffee as soon as it arrived, and to our suprise it was just like that fine coffee we had at that casino. We will be odering much much more of this fine coffee in the future.

Best Coffee
I read all 32 comments and there was only one negative comment for douwe egberts coffee. I tried this at a restaurant while visiting in San Antonio, TX and asked the server for the name. As soon as I got back home to Idaho I ordered a 6 pack and I can't wait to have another cup!
