You might think that the only real Emmental (more commonly referred to as Swiss Cheese) comes from Switzerland. You will find, however, that our French Emmental is worthy of the name. It comes from the heart of the French Alps near the chic ski resort of Chamonix. The freshest water in the world rushes down this region's high mountains, through deep valleys and abundant rivers and feeds the French dairy farms that produce Emmental's milk. Frantal Emmental is ripened to perfection in the traditional 180 pound wheels. They are turned weekly in the ripening chambers for a minimum of two months. It has a somewhat sweet, buttery taste that is slightly reminiscent of fresh nuts and has many round walnut-sized holes evenly distributed throughout. A result of a complex and difficult cheesemaking process, Frantal Emmental is worth the effort. Taste the difference!

Can it get better than this?
Wow, great cheese. Can it get better than this? It is so delicious, you won't stop eating it! I highly recommend this product! Even if you are not familiar with French cheese, you will like this.

Great Swiss to eat straight!
This has a much richer and cleaner taste than any Swiss I've been able to find locally. I think it would make a good fondue option, but I'm enjoying it at room temperature with red wine.

Frantal Emmental
Great rich, smooth tasting cheese with a moderately sweet and buttery milk taste. It's an outstanding cheese on burgers and sandwiches. Exceptional with crackers or just eating it plain in cube form. Another great French cheese worth experiencing.

Authentic Cheese Fondue
I used Frantal Emmental, Gruyer, and Appenzeller Reserve by Emmi, all purchased from igourmet.com, for my cheese fondue appitizer for our bi-monthly dinner group. Using the recipe that is also provided on the web site, everyone agreed that it was the best cheese fondue they had ever tasted! Thank you I Gourmet!!!!!

Good lord this is good
I'm just starting out in my...cheesery. However I've been eating various store brands of "swiss" for years even (yes is pains me to admit this) the Kraft cheese they masquerade as swiss. This being my first emmental from igourmet, I have to say it absolutely blew every other swiss type cheese I've ever had completely out of the water. Good cheese, I'm trying the cave aged emmental next.
