A joint partnership since 1837 between the dairy men of the Czech Republic and the cheese makers of Northern Italy, Gran Moravia is a hard grating cheese in the style of culinary Italian masterpieces like Parmigiano Reggiano or Grana Padano. Made in large 80 lb wheels, Gran Moravia is perfect for grating over pasta, soups, risotto, or salads. The name comes from "Great Moravia," the name of a Slavic state in the 9th century. Although Great Moravia as a political entity only lasted 70 years, its cultural developments had a lasting effect on the area, which today include part of the Czech Republic.

It is there, in the the most fruitful, uncontaminated agricultural area of the Czech Republic, that Gran Moravia cheese is created. Moravia is a territory that abounds in water springs and surrounded by pleasant hills, enchanting mountains, woods and natural parks. In this perfect pasture, the cows produce exceptional quality milk to form the base of this cheese. Once each 80 lb wheel is removed from it molding, the cheeses are sent across the boarder to Italy, where master cheese makers carefully age, brush, and turn each wheel. Once the wheels are at their peak, they are released to the public, where they are enjoyed across the world.

nice
Nothing special for me in this cheese. It creamy, an ever so slight nut flavor, but you have to search for it. I could see using it in cooking, or melted.
