Founded in 1855, this small family-run business has became one of the leading dairy producers in South America while still being run by its founders' fourth-generation descendants.

Magnasco's cows are fed year-round on natural green pastures highly suitable for top-quality dairy production of international acclaim. The company produces an average of 75,000 liters of milk every day. Magnasco uses milk exclusively from its own dairy farms. In this way, quality and consistency of the product can be assured at every single stage of the process.

Originally from Lombardy, Italy, this cheese was brought by Italian immigrants to Argentina. The cheese is recognized by its particular pear shape. During the aging stage, the cheese is hung (wrap and secure with a rope). This hard Provolone cheese develops a sharp, piquant flavor with age.

  • Made from pasteurized cow's milk.
  • Photo depicts whole 12 lb. form of cheese.
  • We cut and wrap this item by the 1/2 pound.

Fantastic
First time ordering Grana Provolone. So wonderful grated over dishes that require a bit less power than parmagiano reggiano

Wonderful Cheese Sure To Please Most People
I used a vegetable peeler to create thin "sheets". It was wonderful. It is a perfect cheese to serve when you're not sure of your companys' tastes - it is neither too strong nor too mild.

Fantastic Provolone
I am a huge fan of strong flavored, well aged cheeses with a pungent taste and aroma. I also prefer cheese a little on the hard side. This cheese is wonderful and fits all my favorite catagories. On top of that this cheese is cheap. Try it, you will love it.

Unbelievably good value
Do not let the low price fool you... this is as good a hard parmesan type cheese that you can get. I love Italian cheeses but the Argentine versions are fantastic and affordable.

another great cheese from magnasco
i love this cheese. the flavor is strong and salty and pungent and can handle itself paired with other strong flavors, but can also be used to provide the main flavor. so stuff it along with spinach and a little nutmeg into mushrooms; or spread slices of good italian or cuban bread with olive oil and a little italian herbs, then top with hard grana and toast in the oven until browning a little. actually, there's almost nothing that you couldn't use this with. but, i probably wouldn't make nachos with it. i'm very impressed with magnasco so far. i'd like to see what they could do with a cheddar.

Italy! Only here at home
In a food store once a man who looked as though he'd come from the set of The Godfather pointed me toward some aged provolone. He said, "try it you'll like it" and it almost seemed an order. So, I did and indeed did like it; a lot. But this, this is much better! Some may think it borders on the "stinky feet" side but it reminds me of the wonderful old Italian groceries that used to be in a grand place called "little Italy."
