The Keen Family has been making delicious cheddars since 1899 at Moorhays Farm near the Blackmore Vale in Southwestern England. This West Country Farmhouse Cheddar cheese matures for more than 12 months to perfection, occasionally growing blue veins at the edges. The cheddars are regularly turned and sampled to ensure that each achieves a unique, subtle, nutty flavor.

Keen's Traditional Cheddar is a West Country Farmhouse Cheddar, part of an exclusive list of British foods protected by a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO). West Country Farmhouse Cheddar can only be made in Dorset, Somerset, Devon, and Cornwall Counties. Keen's Cheddar is one of these selected few.

The taste lingers
I loved this cheese. It has a stronger flavor to it that lingers after you've eaten it. If you like stronger flavor cheeses this one's for you.

Perfect cheddar
This is the perfect cheddar I have searched for years. Now, at last.When you bite it, it bites back. Firm, complicated, sharp, crumbly and chewy - completely satisfying. The tang of this cultured milk brings to sensual memory all the best complements: juicy winesap apples, smoked fish and greek olives, whole grain crackers or baguette and red wine.Disheartening to read contrary reviewers who whine about strong real flavor and demanding serious specialty food that requires one to pay attention. They ought to be disqualified from any reviewing or even from access to fine cheeses.

Outstanding Real Chedder
An excellent artisanal Cheddar. Definitely strong and sharp so if you're thinking of supermarket cheddar it's probably not for you.

Too rough for us.
This just was too far over the cheddar edge for us. We eat cheeses on a regular if not daily basis and could not get past the first taste of this.

Excellent and Unique
I found this to be a unique cheddar with a sharp but earthy flavor. It probably isn't to everyone's taste, but it is definitely a fave of mine.

VERY Strong
Super strong, and maybe a little overripe, but that could have just been my wedge. It was still very good, just a little too moldy. Had it with apple to offset the pungence.

1. FIRST ATE THIS CHEESE WITH A FRESH PEAR & AN APPLE. WONDERFUL!2. WITH A DARK ALE, PLAIN CRACKERS AND RYE BREAD.AGAIN IT WAS WONDERFUL.3.A THICK PIECE OF THE CHEESE PLACED ON MY TONGUE AND ALLOWED TO DISOLVE SLOWLY !!!. IF YOU LIKE CHEDDAR, YOU WILL LOVE THIS CHEESE.

Wow!!!!! Almost perfect
I use this Cheddar for snacks with good whole grain crackers. It is very unique in flavor.It just has that layered effect that only comes from the very best cheese.
