The anchovy is a small sea fish that lives in enormous shoals in the open sea. Some populations are concentrated near estuaries and others stay in the open sea. The anchovy is present in all the seas of the world and is particularly common in the South Pacific (Peru, Chile), in the South Atlantic, in the Mediterranean, and in the Indian Ocean (Malaysia, Indonesia). Our Martel flat fillets of anchovies come from Chile. The cold Humboldt current, which flows northward in these parts, is very rich in zooplankton, and accounts for its abundance. Preserved in salt and olive oil, these little guys are very flavorful, meaty, and boneless. Not overly salty in flavor, these are great for everyday use in the kitchen. (The tin comes with a handy plastic lid to keep them fresh after opening).

Good Anchovies
The BEST anchovies I have ever bought. The only things I would change would be a smaller yet package, (too generous), and paying way too much for shipping. I think it was about $18.00 to get it next day air (UPS)in a "chilled out" package that was still cold on arrival. I think that is overdoing it. I would have been just as pleased to get it PARCEL POST in 3-5 days for 3 to 4 dollars.

Anchovies as they should be.
We use anchovies liberally in cooking in tomato sauces, stews, soups, etc. These are as described, not overly salty, but with that blossoming "musty" flavor. Can't help but eat several every time I open the tin.

Great service!
I have purchased this product several times previously from igourmet so obviously I am quite pleased with it. Moreover I am extremely pleased with igoumet service. This particular product is supposed to be shipped in a cooler with a cold pack to maintain its refrigerated status. However when the item arrived, there was no such protective packaging. I called and without any hesitation, igoumet immediately sent out a replacement order which I receive in two days. I commend igourmet for its quality of product and service.

Great deal! Great taste!
Third order coming up! Less salty than most. Oil does NOT congeal in refrigerator. Taste is large without being overwhelming. The price is ridiculously low (Don't let this fool you...this is quality food!)
