In the early 1800's Josiah Bent from Massachusetts decided to make a lighter and thinner version of Hardtack, a soldiers and seafarers staple. Bent rolled out sheets of dough, baked and hand "cracked" them. Castleton Cracker's founder Whitney Lamy has been rolling out crackers this original way in her Castleton Vermont kitchen for family and friends for years. Castleton Crackers use all-natural ingredients. They mix, roll, bake, and then crack them by hand creating beautiful, rustic looking crackers. This slightly sweet cracker hints at maple and pairs well with sharp cheddar, brie or a tangy goat's cheese. Some even enjoy Middlebury Maple crackers with yogurt at breakfast or with a bowl of butternut squash soup.

My new go to cracker
These big, crunchy, slightly sweet and salty crackers are great, really good with whatever cheeses and spreads you can think to put on them, loved them with manchego and piave.

Outstanding Snack
Just the ticket for a nibble or full scale dessert. Satisfies need for something to munch and the slight taste of maple sugar puts your sweet tooth to rest.
