Eat, drink and be merry! The Belgians, known for both their cheese and beer, tout Nazareth cheese as a fine match for a glass of Leffe, a Belgian abbey ale. Nazareth comes from the makers of Oud Brugge. It is a Maasdam style wheel, complete with a buttery, nutty mild flavor and impressive eye formation. At first glance, this cheese looks smoked because of its dark brown rind, but it is not; the rind is coated in wax through a series of careful treatments. The cheesemakers start waxing the cheese when it's only 15 days old. In the beginning, they wax it every week, but after one month it only receives a coating every 20 days.

Nazareth is finally released after about 3 - 4 months. The rich, dark brown rind differentiates the cheese from others of this Belgium style. Nazareth is a delicacy for all occasions. It slices up for sandwiches, shreds over spaghetti, lasagna and pizza, and makes a good substitute for Emmental types in other culinary preparations.

Wonderful, with a slight touch of sweetness, a good thing
Wonderful, tasty - I would not say tangy or a strong nose, good for just eating as-is. Has a very slight sweetness we find attractive. Nazareth is pasteurized, and will show up regularly from now on, on every cheese platter we serve - if I don't get to it first!

very very pleased
I love this cheese. I like to slice it thin with a cheese plane and eat it by itself. It reminds me of some of my favorite dutch cheeses. This was my favorite out of 5 cheeses that I ordered. I can't wait to get more. I think it would be great melted too I just usually can't wait that long.

good cheese with a solid flavor
I think this would be a good cheese after dinner and it's great in a salad. I also use it for Hors d'oeuvres with Vermont Common Crackers

Great Value!!
I really enjoyed this mild cheese, particularly when I sliced it thin and placed it atop a sweet olive oil and anise cracker. This seemed like an unlikely combination, but it worked amazingly well. Nazareth is a great buy, too. There aren't a whole lot of five dollar cheeses that knock my socks off, but this one is a winner! I will definitely be ordering it again soon.

as a side with a meal as a party dish with fruitas gifts. such a delicate flavor. i never tasted it before and it was just terriffic.

Very, very good
This cheese reminds me of swiss. We like to eat it on hard bread with our soup. It is also good to eat by itself. Everyone likes this cheese.
