The name halva is used for a variety of confections made in the Middle East, the Balkans, areas of the Mediterranean, and even India. The name derives from the Arabic root hulw, meaning sweet. Our halva hails from Israel. Made with all organic ingredients: sesame seed paste (tahina), glucose, sugar, palm oil, saponane root, and citric acid.
Sesame (sesame indicum) is one of the ancient human service plants. Archaeologists' findings show that Sesame was used in ancient Turkey already 3000 B.C. Sesame was known as the food of the gods, thanks to its high nutrition values, the Sesame seeds rich in calcium, vitamin content from B, fatty acids and amino acid, fatty acid from OMEGA 6 & 9, and minerals. Some people claim that Noffet Tsofim, which was mention in the Holly Bible, is the Halva we all know.
All Achva's products are Parve, under the supervision of the Bdtz H'aeda Ahareduth Jerusalem.
