Caws Cenarth Cheese, a small family enterprise, thrives in the heart of West Wales. Here, where Gwynfor and Thelma Adams have been farming for over 42 years, cheese making is only a recent tradition. The Adams' entered the business in 1987 as a response to EU (EC at the time) milk quotas that threatened the viability of the family farm. Thelma and Gwynfor's initiative is acknowledged to have instigated and led the revival of Welsh Farmhouse Caerffili (Caerphilly) production, and Caws Cenarth is now the premier producer of this most famous Welsh Farmhouse cheese.
Caws Cenarth recently created a spectacular new organic blue cheese, named Perl Las. It is a truly different blue-- when young, it has a light, slightly salty flavor. When more mature, it becomes golden in color with an advancing, yet still delicate taste. Perl Las fills the mouth with an array of exciting sensations. Described by the judges at the Organic Food Awards as "lovely and unique with a strong lingering flavor", Perl Las has instantly become one of our favorite new blues! It compares favorably to other favorites like Cashel Blue from Ireland and Berkshire Blue from Massachusetts.All Caws Cenarth Cheeses are made exclusively from the organic milk of the company's own herd of cows.
