With over 500 varieties grown worldwide, watermelons have come a long way from their humble beginnings. Native to Africa, the watermelon was cultivated in Ancient Egypt as far back as 2400 BC. Named for its massive water content (up to 90%), watermelon remains the fruit of choice during steamy summers and its refreshing qualities are always welcome.

Pickled watermelon rind has always been a uniquely southern favorite. This wonderful item is at once crunchy and moist, tart, and sweet. Pickled to perfection, Prissy's Watermelon Rinds make an unusual addition to most appetizers and salads.

Pickled watermelon rind
Our daughter always loved this, but we have been unable to find it for many years. She was so surprised to see it on the relish plate at Thanksgiving dinner. It is delicious.

Hard to find
I was glad to find these but for my taste they are a little too sweet. Appreciate the availability as I had not had one in many years and like the ideas on how to use them too.

A Classic -- Once and Forever
A treat from yesteryear, standing proudly in the post-modern era without apology. We have experienced several poseurs through the years but this is deliciously authentic. We like it as a condiment alongside any meat dish, or as a memorable snack. Pickled rind is perhaps the best part of the watermelon, and Prissy's has it right.

Brings back memories
I was worried that these pickles would be too sweet or somehow just not as I remembered them from Sunday dinners at a boarding school many, many years ago. But these are terrific and exactly as I remembered them. Sweet but not too much...just wonderful. Thanks so much for preserving this superb condiment for roasts and for eating out of the jar!

FINALLY !!
Finally I am able to make the family traditional Christmas fruitcake that my mother used to make! She canned the watermelon rinds herself every summer for use in the fruitcake..... since she is gone, well...... This product is SO close to the taste and composition of her preserves that I am VERY hopeful I may now be able to carry on the tradition. At this writing, the cakes are made and "ripening" for one month in the frig. It LOOKS right, and hopefully will TASTE right!! Thank you in advance.
