The long, storied history of the Portuguese fishing industry is well respected around the world. Unmatched in quality, these outstanding sardines, Pilchardus Walbaum are collected from the waters just off the shore of Portugal. They are caught between May and November, when sardines are at their best. Only fresh fish is allowed. The process involves manual cleaning and very careful handling, followed by the traditional cooking in a grill oven before being canned. Available in four varieties: olive oil, spicy, tomato, skinless and boneless in olive oil. Serve these delicious sardines as hors d'oeuvres during cocktail hour or as an appetizer before the meal. Varieties sold separately.

Spicy Sardines
A while back I rated these as a bit hot. Now, after several purchases I find that I enjoy them immensely. They are brighter than the sardines in unspiced olive oil.

Products and service
This product was a follow-up to a previous order to correct an error in one of the products I ordered. The correction was made and I received the correct product on the next day free of charge. I am a fanatic about good customer service and this was beyond my highest expectations. I love the products and the outstanding customer service!

Really good sardine!
Recently purchased these sardines and I just had my first tin. Really meaty and very tasty. Highly recommend these! I am buying them again.

Portuguese Sardines
I am a lover of Portuguese sardines. The variety I bought, hot pepper and olive oil, is not hot, I think the pepper is sweet pepper. This sardine is overrated. Unfortunately I bought 5 cans; thinking of your rave review

Precious Little Fish
I love all the Portuguese sardines using olive oil. They provide a high proportion of my protein and calcium input. I especially like them with basil pesto.

Portuguese sardines in spicy olive oil
Nice sardines, average size(4-6 per can) unskinned and boned. The sardines in unspiced olive oil seem always out of stock, so I tried the spicy product. These I found quite hot with pepper and not so enjoyable as those in plain olive oil

Portuguese Sardines in Olive Oil
I was disappointed in the first can I opened. The fish seemed to be overcooked and not firm to the teeth. Not the same as yesteryear.
