Quark is a German word that simply means "curds". This cow's milk cheese, produced all over Central Europe, is virtually identical to Fromage Blanc, but is whipped before packaging and has a slightly higher fat content. Quark can be eaten like yogurt, blended with fruit or jam. It is also a common ingredient used in filled pastries, savory and sweet sauces, spreads, soufflés, cheesecakes, and mousses. Quark is so popular in Germany that it accounts for almost half of that country's total cheese production. The average German eats about 10 lbs. of Quark a year! This quark is made by the award winning cheese makers at Vermont Creamery.

First time purchase
I called ahead to find out how long quark cheese was good for so I would know how much to buy. I was told three to four weeks but when I received it, the exp date was 1 week from the date received. I don't know what quark is suppose to taste like and was buying it for the Budwig diet. I don't like the way it tasted, even with fruit.I will try organic low fat cottage cheese instead.

after 9 years without quark
Very good and as quark absolutely acceptable. It is quark. Of course it costs roughly 2o times more than in Germany, however I can live with that fact. I am very happy to have access to quark as of now

just like in Germany
I have been to germany a few times and love spreading quark on their breads with some homemade marmalade. I have been looking for quark for a while, and was happy to finally find some that schmeckts gut!

Cheesecake
The taste is just as I remember from Germany, but the consistency is way to soft even though I drained the whey first. German quark is actually very firm and you can stand up a spoon or fork in it. My cheesecake did not come out too well. If the producer can make it more firm, this will get five stars. It looks more like sour cream then quark. Kudos to iGourmet for the shipping container. It came very well packaged and was impressed with my perishables still being cold even in the hot southwest environment. I have ordered from others before, and it was spoiled because they never put it in coolers even though thats what I choose for delivery. Quark btw should not be whipped. You do that at home when you are ready to use it.....:) I will try the frommage blanc out next time..

Great Product
Arrived in good time. Excellent product. First time trying it and will order more. Great source of protein and is incredibly versatile. Used with eggs, blended drinks, added herbs for vegatable dip, used in place of greek yogurt and sour cream.

Curiosity about Quark
I recently dined at a restaurant that featured a dish with dill quark sauce and it was excellent. I was not familiar with quark and did a great deal of hunting to find it from a seller I could trust. Packaging and shipping were excellent and I learned a great deal about this cheese that I did not know. Will purchase again.
