Roaring Forties Blue Cheese is made by the King Island Dairy. King Island is situated south of Melbourne, Australia at the western end of Bass Strait. Dairying is the largest primary industry among this island's 1,500 inhabitants. According to local legend, grass seeds found in King Island's soil are believed to have been washed ashore in straw mattresses from some 60 eighteenth-century French and English shipwrecks that are strewn along the King Island coast. For almost a century now, dairy herds have grazed on these unique pastures. The quality of these pastures, combined with a pristine environment, combined with a year round growing season, enables the dairy farmers on King Island to practice traditional feeding methods. The cows are reputed to produce the sweetest milk in the land and from this milk comes a range of dairy products acknowledged throughout Australia and rapidly earning the same sort of reputation in the international marketplace. Roaring Forties Blue is a full-flavored blue with a sweet, nutty character. The cheese is matured in blue wax, thus retaining its moisture and creating a smooth and creamy texture.

WOW!
This is the most amazing blue cheese I have ever had!! Heard it wasn't going to be distributed to the U.S. anymore, so I bought 2 to try it. Took them on an amazing camping trip with about 100 people and it went quickly during the wine and cheese hour. Everyone raved about it!! Rebecca and her team at Igourmet were incredible to deal with after a problem with shipping! Thank you Rebecca for making this camping trip really special! I highly recommend Igourmet and the roaring forties blue to anyone!!!!

Great Blue
This is a wonderful blue cheese. It is creamy and perfect for dips, dressings, on burgers or steaks. It is very salty and really not for the cheese board in my opinion unless served as a dip with fruit or veggies. This is also great for stuffed mushrooms and cheese bread mixed with cheddar or goat cheese. It is addictive and I can never get enough. I will be buying this again and again. Give it a try before I buy it all up!

Funky Blue...
Didn't really care for this. I LOVE blue cheese, but this had a funky taste to it. Didn't really taste like a blue...which is what I love.

Creamy and tart
Not your average crumbly blue cheese, this has a smooth texture with the familiar blue cheese "bite"; the two are perfectly balanced.

My All-Time Favorite Blue Cheese!
There is a reason why those down under are proud of King's Island. They claim this is where the best butter in the world is churned. I am rather inclined to agree... second best is Pearl Valley in Amish Country, Ohio. But this cheese... is... amazing!!!!!! I'd buy a whole wheel if I could.

A Blue Ribbon cheese if there ever was one!!!
One of the best "new" blue cheeses I've ever tasted!!!Not at all overly strong,but extremly rich and creamy without being crumbly
