This layered cheese is also called five counties cheese because of the different cheeses that make up its five layers. These cheeses are: Double Gloucester, Caerphilly, Cheshire, Leicester, and Cheddar. The cheese has a very dramatic appearance and a very pleasing flavor. If you are a fan of any of these British classics, this is definitely a cheese to try.

Saxonshires need some space
Delicious cheeses, but served so close together, they seem to compete for the palate. Neat to look at, but individual selections will be my choice.

Every Bite is different
The texture change as you eat a piece is great. A different experience in every bite. It would be nice to have a key card that describes each layer, since its presentation is visually exciting and people want to know (including me) Good value.

Great cheese for appetizer tray
I used this in a tray for premeal small talk while people were gathering - crowd loved it with crackers and grapes

a pretty face, but not much else
This is a beautiful-looking cheese, as you can see in the photograph, but it is very plain otherwise. It doesn't taste bad at all -- but it has no pizazz. It's just a simple cheese, pretty but bland.

Okay, not great
I had tried a 5 County cheese at a market in D.C. and I was hoping this would be the same in taste. Unfortunately it was not nearly as good as that I had in D.C. The flavor was not as intense as I was hoping. Overall, it was good but not one that I would buy again.

Samplers Treasure
An excellent choice for those wishing to sample a wide variety of Englands popular cheeses. An eye-catcher at parties. Try combinations to create a unique taste. Watch which layer goes first, fastest, then order more of those!
