About 100 years ago, a farmer's wife who lived in North Zealand (one of Denmark's most romantic islands -- a trysting place for lovers) became interested in the art of cheesemaking. She traveled through Europe to learn the secrets of this craft. Upon her return, she began to experiment with her newly acquired techniques. She named her finest creation after her farm, "Havarthi". Today's Cream Havarti is a direct descendant. It has an ivory interior patterned with a myriad of tiny holes and is mild, creamy, and mellow. The smoked rind infuses the cheese and adds a new dimension to traditional Havarti.

Who Knew Smoked Havarti Was so Delicious
Enjoyed the Smoked Havarti very much. Smoking the Havarti makes it a bit harder than "plain" Havarti and therefore easier to slice. I will order again. Only complaint was packaging in that it did not have a best if used by date, etc. I traditionally do not buy anything in a store that doesn't have a used by date on it. This did not deter from the goodness of the cheese and the online Chat I had with Customer Service resolved my issue to my satisfaction regarding the use by date - Cheeses per their response should be used within 4 weeks of receipt - no biggie - it didn't last that long anyway.

Smoked havarti
I ended up using this actually in a mexican lasagna. It was a great melting cheese and the boys never knew the difference but one. And he ended up eating the rest on crackers after dinner.

Smoky Goodness
As soon as the package was opened my family came running. It smells and slightly tastes of smoked bacon. It's nearly intoxicating. This is hands-down the best Havarti I have ever had and was a huge success at a family gathering. I would definitely order more next time.

A Robust Smokey Havarti
A wonderfully smooth Havarti with a robust smoke flavor. It worked perfectly for me as an Hors d'oeuvre. I served it with a Pillars Black Kassel Salami, some light crackers and a glass of wine. My friends all loved it and will likely order for themselves.

I used to drive 300 miles in California to get this. Now it's so convenient with igourmet to have it shipped to me.

Very Tasty
Very nice. I am a big fan of Havarti and this is a lovely change. A bit drier than a traditional Cream Havarti with lots of smoky flavor. I could eat the whole thing in one sitting with no accompaniments....
