Recently, Cindy Lou Holleman's job took a paycut. Just like many Americans she found herself looking to supplement her income and be able to support herself and her daughter. While still employed, it became a struggle to compete against others who were without a job at all. After much reflection, she decided not to take a part-time job from someone who didn't have any income at all. So on a wing and a prayer, Cindy Lou thought about making a business out of the salsa she had been making for her daughter and giving away as gifts for years.
Stick Figure Salsa was the result! In need of a name and logo, neither Cindy Lou nor her daughter could draw anything more than stick figures. Knowing she would have to come up with marketing materials to catch people's attention, stick figures seemed to be the only option. With the help and support of family and friends, Cindy Lou soon launched a business that began to garner awards at local fairs around Southern California. Her daughter still helps her to prepare the salsa, come up with new ideas, and encouragement. And Cindy Lou's mother, at 93 years old, continues to do what she has for her entire life; be Cindy Lou's #1 fan and cheerleader.
