Pumpkin seed oil is a specialty of Steiermark, or the Austrian province of Styria. This beautiful, lush province is located in the southeastern corner of Austria and borders on Hungary, Slovenia, and Italy. Styria's cuisine has, therefore, been greatly influenced by both eastern and western cultures. The Styrians are, however, a very stubborn people and hold on tenaciously to their native foods, as well. One of these is pumpkin seed oil. Pumpkins grow very well in Styria, and her people have become well versed in the pressing of oil from the seeds of these fruits. Our native extra virgin pumpkin seed oil comes from 100% pure Styrian pumpkin seeds. The seeds are roasted and then pressed to release a dark green oil with a rich, nutty flavor. This oil is used in nearly every traditional Styrian meal. One taste, and you will be hooked, too.

EXCELLENT QUALITY OIL!
My Husband and I have lived in Austria for a while and visited the region in Styria/ Austria where this oil is famous. We have missed that wonderful flavor. I did my research on the name brand, because there's a lot of imitations on the market. This oil is from certified organic farmers and like the organic olive oil cold pressed. We like to add a small amount to Pumpkin Soup, a half a teaspoon on salads and one drop on soft boiled eggs. One could also mix with egg and or potatoe salad.

Love this oil!
I had it in Austria and wanted to get some for home. It is sooo good. Strong, warm flavor. I love it on salads with some balsamic vinegar!

Pumpkin Oil Light
As far as Styrian pumpkin seed oils go, this one is rather light for my taste. It does have a good flavour, but is missing the body of the oils I grew up with in southern Styria. A good oil for newcomers to the world of Kurbiskernoel.
