Sweet Olive Oil Biscuits from Spain have been made in a small village near Seville since 1915. Local women flattened each torta by hand and, after baking, wrapped each one in wax paper. Today, the plant is modern, but located in the same village. Local women still flatten the tortas by hand, and they still hand wrap each torta in wax paper.

Everyone loves Tortas de Aceite by Ines Rosales! They are so light, delicate, and crisp. Slightly sweet with a gentle flavor of olive oil and a hint of anise. They are great with triple-crème cheeses, tea, and coffee. Enjoy them for breakfast, as a mid-day snack, or anytime during the day. Theses tortas are all-natural and made with the finest ingredients.

In 1910, a woman named Ines Rosales began making olive oil tortas (tortas de aceite) by hand and selling them at the train station in Seville, Spain. Soon, she could not keep up with the demand, so she employed the women of the local village to assist her in producing these delicate and crisp treats. She used local ingredients, including extra virgin olive oil and unbleached wheat flour. In a short period of time, this Andalusian specialty became known and enjoyed throughout Spain.

GREAT
I really like these Tortas. They are the real thing from Andalusia. The price is right and the delivery was super.

Excellent but do not ship well
These biscuits are indeed a delight, especially with the recommended triple creme. Unfortunately, they are a bit fragile. My shipment was not in the box as pictured, but rather wrapped in a plastic container. Most of them were broken into bits and pieces.

Tortas de Aceite
These tortas truly are a delightful, light and crisp treat for the palate. I find they are a wonderful addition when serving guests either breakfast, snack, or dinner. They definitely are a conversation starter. People always like to sample something different, especially when they are visiting and enjoy something different. Something they cannot buy here at the grocery.

Enjoyment
I like treats that have a slight sweetness. I love anise. The olive further brings all of the flavors together to produce something that I very much enjoyed. I would buy these tortas again.

Intriguing flavors
These biscuits are wonderful, apparently descedants of Moorish cookery, with the hint of anise (I thought caraway, too). Happy to eat plain!

Pleasant suprise! Slightly sweet, crispy, great texture!
I must say that these were much better than what I expected. I was actually unsure what these were and what I would get. They were a pleasant suprise. Great texture, slightly sweet, crispy, and savory. They are great alone with tea, or with cheese, preserves, melted chocolate, cream cheese, fruits, and whatever else you can dream up! These came all intact and no broken bits. A different but pleasant taste that I think would be liked by most.

I'm addicted!
Tonight I was in the mood to bake a chocolate cake (or anything sweet) so I started searching the web for recipes (to coincide with my pantry ingredients). Stumbled across this site and remembered that last week I saw these Spanish delights at Safeway. After reading all the reviews, I ran down to the store and am now eating them with cream cheese and tea. Yummy! Hit the spot. Thanks all for your persuasive comments.
