Herrgardsost is the most popular type of cheese in Sweden and has been produced since the 18th century, when it was created by a Swedish cheese master. Our version, named Vadenost after the Swedish port city, has a similar flavor but distinctly softer texture than English Cheddar. Although made from pasteurized cow's milk, Vadenost maintains a full-bodied, slightly grassy flavor.

Bland
Nothing really wrong with this cheese, but not much flavor, just too bland. Says 'full bodied' - not. Also kind of soured a little bit if not finished in a couple of days. It's OK, but I prefer something a bit more tasty. Maybe I should slice it for melting in a sandwich next time. Bought it for the low price. No relationship whatever to English Cheddar.

Good for Breakfast!
I love this cheese on a slice of hard or soft bread for breakfast with fruit and coffee. Great for a snack, too.

Excellent!!
I finally found the perfect cheese with that smooth and nutty flavor. Herrgardsost was my favorite, growing up in Sweden and this tastes exactly like it. Perfect for slicing or using in any recipes that require a flavorfull cheese.

Nice!
The Vadenost was as good as you can expect from a good Swedish Herrgårds- or Grevéost. Way more taste than a standard Cheddar or Colby cheese.A question though: I am originally Swedish, have spent half a century or so there, and I have never seen this brand of Cheese there. Also the Swedish port city is said to be named after, simply does not exist. What gives?Pleasant cheese, however!

I would buy this product again and again
I really love this Vadenost. It tastes just like Herrgardost, which I eat all the time in Sweden. This product was shipped to me in time and it was packed professionally. My only dissapointment was that this product was a lot smaller than I had anticipated. So it was a good thing that I had ordered 4 Vadenost.
