First made by the Cistercian Monks at Jervaulx Abbey in Wensleydale, using milk from their herds, this cheese is now produced according to a time honored traditional recipe by the Wensleydale Creamery in Hawes, Yorkshire. It's full creamy flavor offers a clean, lemony tang which tends to sharpen with age. Firm and flaky, but not by any means dry, this pasteurized cow's milk Wensleydale is fragrantly sweet and perfectly paired with fresh fruits such as pears, grapes, and apples.

This cheese has gained international attention through the popular English animation feature of Wallace & Gromit and their long lasting devotion to their favorite snack of Wensleydale with cream crackers. Best British cheese on the site!
If you like Cheshire or Lancashire you will love Wensleydale too. I have ordered several different British cheeses and found this one to be the best so far!

Mild, but satisfying
We definitely enjoyed this cheese. However, it was drier than we expected! It is mild in taste and quite different than other cheeses we've tasted. We tried it due of the int'l attention.

Wensleydale?
This was a pleasantly flavored and textured cheese, but not as complex as I had remembered from my earlier experience with Wensleydale.

Excellent
I am not a fan of Wensleydale with the fruit embedded.....just a tad too yuppy for my taste! So to have a slice of the Wensleydale that I remember from my youth was great. Cheese arrived fresh and tasted great.
