Sweet Olive Oil Biscuits from Spain have been made in a small village near Seville since 1915. Local women flattened each torta by hand and, after baking, wrapped each one in wax paper. Today, the plant is modern, located in the same village. Local women still flatten the tortas by hand, and they still hand wrap each torta in wax paper.
Everyone loves Tortas de Aceite by San Martin De Porres! They are so light, delicate, and crisp. Slightly sweet with a gentle flavor of olive oil and a hint of anise. They are great with triple-crème cheeses, tea and coffee. Enjoy them for breakfast, as a mid-day snack, or anytime during the day. Theses tortas are all-natural and made with the finest ingredients. |

In the 1950's, a category of cheeses called triple creams was created and defined as any cheese containing at least 75% butterfat. (Keep in mind that butter typically has about 80% butterfat.) This level is achieved by adding pure cream to the milk used to make these cheeses. Explorateur, produced in Ile-de-France, is one of these cheeses with its 75% butterfat content. We have chosen to carry a very small size of this cheese. Because it is so rich, a little bit goes a very long way, and unless you have several friends with whom to share a pound or even half a pound of these cheeses, they will usually go bad before you can eat them all. Like all triple creams, this cheese can be eaten at nearly any stage of ripening. As the cheese ages, its interior with go from a chalky, firm, pristine white to a runny, yellow to beige mass with a much more intense flavor. Each stage is delicious in its own right.- Made from cow's milk.

Made in the French town of Brie, Boursault is a very popular double cream cheese that is frequently found in grocery stores across France. Boursault, the cheese, was invented in 1953 by Henri Boursault, and was originally made in eight ounce drums. The company is now owned by Boursin, which makes relatively well-known spreadable, herbed cheeses. We sell this rich, creamy delight in a 6.3-ounce drums, which is a good size for a cheese with butterfat content as high as 74%. For those of you who gasp at that number and grab onto your chests, just remember,“fat is flavor”. This cheese is worth every tiny bite, and besides, it could be worse. There are triple creams !- Best enjoyed within seven days of delivery.

During the 1930's, there was a tea garden in Darjeeling owned by Mr. Bagdon who lived in London but visited the tea garden regularly. He had two daughters. The younger daughter was named Margaret. When she saw the tea garden, she fell in love with it, hoping one day she would have an opportunity to return. Sadly, she fell ill on board ship during the return trip to England and died soon after. In her memory, her father changed the garden's name to Margaret's Hope. It is believed that she visits the estate bungalow from the western side, coming through the main guest room and leaving from the study through the verandah to the tennis courts.
The bushes at Margaret's Hope are almost entirely the Chinese Jat (genus), accounting for the green leafed tippy appearance of the manufactured leaf and the superb fragrance. Because the tea is grown at such high altitudes and in relatively cool weather, the bushes do not grow quickly, and, as such, the production is limited. The best time of the year for quality is during ‘second-flush' (end of May - end of June). During this time, Darjeelings are incomparable to any other tea in the world. The fragrance and taste is a complex bouquet that reaches right out of the cup. Some would describe the taste as nutty; others find it reminds them of black currants; but most often it is described as similar to the taste and fragrance of muscat grapes.

Chai is a spiced, milk tea from India. People in cooler parts of India have traditionally added spices to their tea, as well as their food, both as flavoring and to induce heat in the body.
The variations on chai are endless, containing different black teas and different spices in varying amounts. This chai is made up of rich black tea and spices, including whole cardamom pods, pieces of stick cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and pepper. Brew the chai with whole milk and sweeten each cup with plenty of sugar.- IMPORTANT: Turn your tin of Chai upside down a few times. The powdered spices can settle at the bottom of the bag during transit.
