It is said that Coulommiers is the ancestor of all Brie cheeses. That would be an amazing heritage given the immense, worldwide popularity of this genre of cheese. Pronounced "KOO-lohm-yay" and named after the town of the same name, this soft-ripened cheese is made from rich cow's milk. Beneath its bloomy, edible white rind, it has an extra-rich, creamy body. Not for those who are counting calories, Coulommiers has an allure you will find irresistable. Don't blame us for those midnight trips to the fridge! This cheese is best when eaten at room temperature.
  • Best enjoyed within seven days of delivery.
  • Produced in the rich pastures of Normandy.
  • Made from pasteurized cow's milk.
  • Photo depicts whole 14 oz. form of cheese.

Not bad, but not great

This isn't a bad cheese, it's just not as rich as some of the other bries igourmet sells. And it's a bit sharp

Brie lovers delight

This cheese shares much in common with brie. I*t has the same softness, a white rind and a unique saltiness ( fleur de sel?). It also has a wonderful aroma and a distinctive taste. Brie lovers will go wild for this cheese !
Not as expected

Creamy yes but too sour.
Not what you think you're getting

Like a previous reviewer, what you get is not what is shown on the web page. It is NOT a Vernier rustic Coulommiers, but rather one made by Rouzaire, and it's not as good. But, it's still an acceptable cheese. I won't be ordering it again, though.
Caveat emptor!

The photo implied that I would be receiving Coulommiers Le Rustique, a cheese that is perhaps my absolute favorite. Instead I received Coulommiers from Rouzaire which is not at all the same. The Rouzaire is very salty and very disappointing. Unlike the product description for Camembert Le Rustique, Igourmet did not specify the origin of this Coulommiers, but the photo led me to believe that it was indeed my favorite. My fault, and next time I'll take much more care over my selection.
The stronger

I've ordered this many times before and love the cheese... however the last two I received were not of the quality I remember. I bought one and it was very over ripe- a replacement was sent [...] but it too was below the normal high quality I've come to appreciate from igourmet.I will continue to get my French cheese fix from them but may hold off on the Coulommiers!

My new favorite!

I can't really say anything bad about this cheese. It was everything I expected and more. It has great flavor. If you don't like strong cheeses, you may find that you don't enjoy it but for me it was absolutely perfect. This is one that I will purchase again and again. It was well worth the money-we snacked on it for days and days with crackers and baguette. I would definitely recommend this to any foodie!
