The world's most famous melting cheese, Raclette is made in the Alps on both sides of the French-Swiss border. The French version is perhaps a bit softer than Swiss Raclette, but the two taste very similar. Raclette has a semi-soft interior dotted with small holes and a rosy inedible rind. Eaten as a table cheese, Raclette has a smooth, creamy taste that is neither too salty nor sharp. However, our French Raclette tends to have a strong, pungent aroma that is not for the timid. This cheese is traditionally melted (a half wheel is placed in a fireplace, then the melted top surface is continuously scraped off) and layered atop boiled potatoes, pickles, fresh vegetables and sliced meats. Check out our recipes and try it for yourself!

Raclette is not only a sociable way of eating, it is also delicious. Most Raclette Grills are designed to work with a half wheel of cheese. Simply load the cheese into the grill and turn it on. When the cheese begins to melt, you scrape it off and serve the melted cheese on a hot plate with a baked potato, pickled pearl onions, thinly sliced ham, cornichons, baguette, and of course, a glass of white wine. Think of Raclette as a winter barbecue!

Easy to clean, this heavy duty Raclette machine is the ultimate appliance for the serious cheese lover. Made in Switzerland.

Raclette is a delicious, sociable way of enjoying cheese. This specially designed knife has a rectangular blade with two sharp cutting edges - one long side and the shorter front. Designed for scraping or cutting, the long edge is ideal for long scrapes of Raclette, while the short, front edge gets into tighter spots. In addition to Raclette, this sharp instrument can also be used to serve foods that need to be cut downward into squares, such as lasagna or casserole. Its super-sturdy construction will not let you down over the long haul. 16cm in length.

Until the 19th Century this perennial favorite was known as Valais. Taking its modern name from the French verb racler (to scrape), Raclette is now one of the most popular mountain cheeses worldwide. Made from whole, unpasteurized cow's milk, this raclette is typically aged three to four months. Smoother than gruyere, Raclette has a creamy and supple texture with fruity undertones that intensify when melted. A little firmer than its French counterpart, our Swiss Raclette is great served with Bunderfleisch or cured ham. Traditionally served with kirsch or beer.

Cornichons are crisp, tart, pickled baby cucumbers. Drenched in a brine of white wine vinegar, salt, pearl onions and select spices, these tangy little pickles are zesty and delicious. They are the traditional accompaniment to patés, smoked fish and meats, as well as a necessary ingredient when serving Raclette. From the heart of Provence, these authentic French Cornichons will surely find a welcome home in your gourmet pantry.
