This semi-soft sheep's milk cheese is handmade in the French Pyrenees. The Pyrenees Mountain range, a natural border that divides France and Spain, is populated by the Basques, a people who have their own customs and language. Although the Basques live on both sides of the border, they produce this cheese on the French side. Amidst the breathtaking, rolling mountains of the Pyrenees, vast pastures stretch as far as the eye can see, providing fertile grazing for milk-producing sheep. P'tit Basque, made from pure sheep's milk, has a slightly oily texture and an earthy, nutty flavor. It comes to us in a whole, uncut cylinder, offering a beautiful presentation as well as a lovely taste.
  • Made from pasteurized sheep's milk.
  • Photo depicts whole 1.25 pound form of cheese.

Excellent! Great packaging & fast service!
Purchased for a "sit-down" wine tasting, with (2) other IGOURMET.COM cheeses. Highest quality available in USA!

My order of cheese & such, Totally made our Christmas!
I took a chance,,I ordered blindly, and was totally surprised. The family and I were in cheese Heaven. The bacon went faster than expected, and the ginger cookies, well, the best. THANKS SO MUCH, igourmet is now on my list of to haves.

Love it
This tastes like a super Swiss, but earthier and smoother. It is luscious, but not too creamy. I like it room temperature with wholegrain peasant bread or good French/Italian bread.

Most Enjoyable
Very nice cheese; this was my first try of P'tit Basque. Will be buying again!

Not Bad....
It is probably just our personal taste, but this cheese has a more pungent, "goaty" taste that some sheep's milk cheeses. The rind got sticky feeling and smelly after 2 days in the refrigerator. This was not our favorite, but still not terrible. We really enjoyed it fresh out of the package.

Simply delicious!
A mild, drier cheese that will surely please most palates. Delicate flavor, easily pairs with most wines.

One of our favorites
Since the first time we tasted it in France, I've included it in just about every order, at least when it was in stock.

Delicious cheese
This was a wonderful cheese to use on a cheese tray, as well as in combination with some other cheeses (and bread, olives, cornichon, prosciutto) for dinner. The cheese is complimented nicely when accompanied by a good quality syrah/shiraz. It lasted longer than the recommended 7 days.

Excellent cheese from France
We had this cheese in France, and it was one of our favorites there. Simple and a little rustic, but it is so smooth and buttery. Make sure it's as fresh as possible. In our experience when it gets too old, it looses its wonderful texture.
