The word tomme implies that a cheese is made from the milk of more than one herd. Tomme de Savoie is made by an expert cheesemaker and is always of exceptional quality. It has a beautifully rustic, gray-brown, fuzzy, inedible, thick rind. The cheese inside is robust with slight overtones of salt and an unmistakably raw flavor. This French, unpasteurized cow's milk cheese has a charming simplicity. It is absolutely wonderful paired with sausages, fruit, bread, and wine. All the good things in life!

  • Made from unpasteurized cow's milk; aged for 60 days.
  • Photo depicts whole 4 lb. form of cheese.
  • We cut and wrap this item by the 1/2 pound.
  • Please contact us if you would like to purchase the whole form.

Robust, nicely flavorful
A little bit on the robust side, favorful, non-stinky raw cow, a great snack cheese.

The embodiment of
Powerfully delicious. And succulent, toothsome, deeply resonant,... I'll resist the temptation to wax on. I'm wishing I'd purchased more while it was on sale. My new favorite.

Very strong
Very strong flavor. Not for new french cheese eaters.

Excellent quality as always
This order of Tomme de Savoie arrived in excellent condition as always. I have been a customer of igourmet.com for 10 years or so and am almost always completely satisfied and if I am not for what ever reason, the staff here at igourmet.com makes it right. The only negative thing I can say is that the cheese comes pre packaged in (2) 8 oz. packages and in the comment section of my order I asked that the cheese be sent as 1 whole piece. not a big deal though.

Not bad
The texture was a bit weird, like chewy. It didn't taste very strong. It wasn't bad, it wasn't amazing neither.

Love these cheeses
First tasted Comte and Tomme in Switzerland. Cheeses arrived a little late due to all the snow we've been having lately. Both were big hits at the Super Bowl party I attended. Both cheeses were superb. Thank you igourmet.

A French Favorite
One of the surprise niceties is that it is not a fatty cheese, and that its flavors and texture are easily appealing.

Alpine Cheese
Like the abondance which we enjoyed during vacations in Combloux (near Megeve), the tomme was very much like the ones we consumed on our ski trips. Perhaps, a bit strong for some but it goes very well with a good hearty red wine.

better than parmesan
great tasting hard cheese. it has tons of flavor. If you have ever tasted fresh raw whole milk, it has that "cow" taste, you know where it comes from! It is similar to parmesan in texture, very hard cheese that tends to crumble when you cut it. I like it just on its own, with french bread and a glass of red wine. Fantastic.

plays well with wine
Finding flavorful cheeses that don't do battle with wine can be a challenge. This is one which complements both reds and whites and they return the favor.
