Abondance, a name-controlled cheese from the Savoy region of France, is made with fresh, partially-skimmed milk and formed into 20-pound wheels. Aged for three months on spruce planks, the cheese is repeatedly washed with a saltwater brine to develop the natural rind. This extraordinary cheese is similar to Gruyere de Comte, but more complex and buttery. It has a firm texture, nutty flavor, and a distinctive fruitiness. While the strong aroma of this cheese may be a bit off-putting, the flavor is divine. In addition to being a delicious table cheese, Abondance melts nicely and is often substituted for Raclette.

Great Cheese
It's not as pungent as Raclette but has the same consistency. A little piece if very filling. I love it on a piece of real crusty sourdough and a slice of tomato on top

Very tasty, like a farmhouse Gruyere.
A bit fuller-bodied and less stinky than a Gruyere. Really worth bringing up to room temperature. This is a delicious cheese that I just placed two more orders for.

Delicious
Originally bought this to try in raclette; on initial opening, we were a little taken aback by the smell, but it tastes delicious! It doesn't melt terribly well for raclette, but it's usable. It's also good eaten straight. I've returned to buy this cheese multiple times.

Oh, yum!
This is a mildly stinky cheese that appears firm and cuts so, too, but when it is in your mouth it seems to melt on your tongue. Sooo good. Kat :)
