Raclette is one of the most enjoyed speciality cheeses in Switzerland and the surrounding Alpine areas. It is often served as part of the Raclette meal, where it is melted under a hot grill and scraped over a combination of boiled potatoes, cornichons, salami slices, crusty bread and other tasty bite-sized treats. Emmi's Raclette cheese has melting properties par excellence. Made exclusively from pure Swiss milk, it is exceptionally creamy and smooth.

Anyone who thinks a Raclette meal is only for cold winter days is very much mistaken. This fun Swiss meal can be enjoyed during all four seasons.

  • Made from pasteurized cow's milk.
  • Photo depicts whole 12 lb. form of cheese.

better than the fondue!
The raclette has a unique smell of flowery grass when it melts. The taste is also unique and you cannot replace a raclette by any other cheese. It is served melted on bread and sandwiches, but traditionally on hot cut potatoes and parsley.

Swiss boring???
Comment on usaqh's comment: The French lost a legal battle and the name Raclette can now only be used for cheese from Switzerland (State of Wallis). French "Raclette" cheese is something totally different from Real Swiss Raclette cheese. The French version is much softer, melts quicker and is creamy with a milky taste. The Swiss version is harder, melts slower/gets less fluid and has a much stronger taste. Americans tend to not like strong tasting food which is the reason a lot of Swiss cheese varieties like Appenzeller etc. are not sold in stores. That's of course everyone's choice, but to call the Swiss (and their strong tasting food) boring is just about as wrong as it gets. Not to mention that this is a website for food and not a forum to make disrespectful comments about other nations/people. I think it's pretty obvious from my comment that I'm Swiss (although living in the U.S. since 1998 and by now a US citizien).

Not what you want for a raclette grill
This is cut into wedges not sliced. Totally wrong for a grill. Customer service said that this is the way the cheese comes but I have bought the same brand from [ ] Cheese store and it came nicely sliced and wrapped in half pound packages. Again if you want to use this on a raclette grill it is not for you. A note from igourmet: Our Raclette is cut from the wheel. It comes to you in a full pound wedge. We do not pre-slice this cheese.
