Ekte Gjetost is a sweet, brown, firm cheese, made solely from pure goat's milk which is boiled under pressure until caramelization occurs. Stronger than regular Gjetost, it is widely popular among Scandinavians. Children especially enjoy its sweet flavor and fudge-like texture. Traditionally, this cheese is cut into very thin slices and eaten at breakfast with toast or crispbread.

Something Sweet
My husband and I first tried Geitost while traveling through Norway. From the first bite I was hooked. Very unique as it is a cheese, yet has just a hint of sweetness. I recommend you try this if you are a cheese lover. I caramelized some onions, grated the cheese, and made toasted cheese sandwiches for my sister and her family. Their comment..."This is the best toasted cheese sandwich ever."

Very nice cheese
We bought this cheese after tasting done in a store, and it is very smooth and tasty. My wife says it's like eating Carmel candy. We found this web site and purchased the cheese. The transaction was very smooth and the cheese arrived in ice and only took a couple days. Perfect. Love it. Highly recommend buying from this company Will buy again

The brown caramel cheese
There's nothing to compare with the exquisite taste of Gjetost - like eating candy...do not just pop into the mouth and start chewing: let it lay on the center of the tongue and start to melt so the flavor is fully appreciated. I try to get a package for my daughter-in-law whenever this is ordered...she's Norwegian.

Memories of childhood...
Mmmmmm..... warm goat cheese on toast for breakfast. What a lovely memory, and now I can recreate it. Norwegian goat cheese is definitely an acquired (or born to) taste, but once you get it, you'll love it! I love all goat cheese, but was brought up on gjetost, so the other kinds are for different ways of enjoying. The Ekte cheese is much creamier than Ski Queen, but to be honest, either will do for that lovely nutty flavor. And always better to have some than none!

One of the better brown cheeses on the market
Pleasant brown cheese! I use it for Norwegian waffles as a topping. Plus a few other dishes and it has a great taste to it.

Of my friends that tasted the chees, a few thought it was too different for their liking , BUT for myself and other friends we loved it (more for us) As I type this I have a strong urge to go to the frig and cut a slice.

Loved the cheese
I'm 67 years old. Last time I ate this cheese was aboard a Norweigon freighter in 1956 at age 10. Brought back wonderful memories and tastes just as good now as it did in 1956.
