Latteria Perenzin has been synonymous with cheese-making excellence since founder, Domenico Perenzin, started the business in the early 1900s. Still a small family-owned artisanal dairy located in the Veneto region of Northern Italy, Perenzin is currently run by Domenico's great-granddaughter, Emanuela Perenzin, and her highly-skilled cheesemaker, affinatore, and master cheese taster husband, Carlo Piccoli, who directly oversees all cheese production.
Emanuela and Carlo pour their heart and soul into each and every hand-crafted cheese they produce, and their passion for reinventing traditional cheeses has been recognized at every major international cheese show.
Vecchio Dolce (the old sweet) is the most recent addition to Perenzin's award-winning line of artisanal cheeses. Made with cow's milk and aged for one year, Vecchio Dolce is styled after Grana Padano and Parmigiano Reggiano, but has an extremely sweet finish with a long lasting aftertaste that harkens the flavors of the unique Venetian pasturelands.
Keeping with wines of Veneto, a big, bold wine like Amarone della Valpolicella or a Ripasso Valpolicellas pairs extremely well. A beautiful table cheese on its own, Vecchio Dolce is also perfect when drizzled with honey, especially chestnut. Tart fruit and jams make a welcome accompaniment and further enhance the sweet character.
