Chevrelait
The name is a bit corny, but at least it's accurate. Chevrelait, pronounced like the American car company, is the combination of the French words "Chevre" - meaning "goat", and "Lait" - meaning "milk". We discovered this brand new smoked goat's milk cheese while in Holland not too long ago. Similar in looks to Dutch Smoked Gouda, it is a log-shaped cheese with an edible brown rind and a pale white interior. That is where the similarity ends, however, as Chevrelait tastes decidedly "goaty". If you like the taste of traditional chevre, you'll find Chevrelait to be a familiar, yet unique alternative.
Made from pasteurized processed goat's milk.

Amazing
I normally avoid smoked cheeses, as they are usually lower quality cheese hiding in a smokescreen. This is a notable exception, absolutely delicious

Delivered Cold and Fresh
I enjoyed this the best of 4 Belgian cheeses I purchased, but I was particularly impressed with customer service. I got a call because a cheese I ordered was out of stock, and the rep had several substitute suggestions. When it arrived, it was still very cold, and well packaged. I would recommend igormet products for this reason, as I had a bad experience ordering specialty cheeses from another company. I was afraid to mail order a perishable product again, but I am glad I tried igormet. They took real care in their product and making sure I was happy before I got the order. The cheese tasted best (in my opinion) paired with a thin slice of fresh baked wheat bread - similar to how it would be served in Belgium. Even better with a little dab of spicy mustard.

Interesting multi personalities!
I wanted to include a smoke flavor On my Educational Cheese Tasting Fundraiser...and I wanted a goat cheese. And when I mention the " Chevrolet" thing everybody laugh. Probably the only info that will stick to their heads.

Wonderful Texture / Flavor...Just the Right Amount of Smoke
As is often the case. . . again. . I disagree with the igourmet description. I don’t find this cheese to be “goaty” at all. I love goat cheese, and was surprised to find that this is made from goat’s milk. I’m not usually that fond of smoked cheese, but I really like this one. It’s such a smooth cheese. . .with great texture. . . . and the smokiness is not overpowering and doesn’t taste like “fake smoke flavoring”. I also disagree about being able to eat the brown rind. I removed it, because it has a hard texture, unlike the actual cheese itself.

Grreat cheese!
Creamy, slightly smoky, "goaty" but not overpoweringly so, just right. If you like smoked Gouda, you will like this cheese.

Goat cheese for people who say they hate goat cheese.
This is a perennial favorite with my family and with the people on my Christmas list. Just delicious! Flavorful and complex but not overwhelming for those whose appreciation for goat cheese is still a work in progress.
