In order to appreciate the subtle differences between Grana Padano and Parmigiano Reggiano (they are actually made from the same recipe), one should taste them side-by-side. That is why we have created this special offering, containing 1/2 pound of each. Enjoy them chunked and drizzled with thick 4-Leaf Balsamico, thinly sliced over caesar salad or carpaccio, or grated over soup or pasta. Each of these cheeses has a long, storied history and the two have been rivals for centuries. Let the debate continue!
  • Grana Padano Stravecchio Oro Del Tempo: Contrary to popular belief, this grand cheese from the Po Vally is not simply an inferior Parmesan. In fact, a premium Grana Padano rivals the best that Parma has to offer. In this example, we serve our Stravecchio (extra aged) variety which earns the name Gold From Time. (8 oz)
  • Parmigiano Reggiano: Internationally known as one of the world's greatest cheeses, by law this hard cheese can only be made in either Parma and Reggio-Emilia from a certain type of milk taken from a certain breed of cow. The law also dictates its minimum aging period, its aging conditions and at least 20 other constraints, meaning that every single 80 pound wheel that gets stamped with the Parmigiano Reggiano brand lives up to a standard that has been lovingly developed over the past 800 years. (8 oz)

Grana Padano nice smooth cheese
I was used to parmigiano and liked the mix of the two kinds. Good deal for high quality of both.

The best quality cheese we've seen! Customer Service is outstanding. I'll be a customer for as long as they're here, which should be forever!

Classic Italian Hard Cheese
This gift of cheese was part of a gift for my son. It arrived with the cooling pack and cheese warm. Upon calling igourmet, he was assured that the cheese was safe to eat, and indeed he said the cheese was very good.

Honestly I had no idea.
Ok, so admittedly I don't have a longstanding cheese blog of my adventures of cheeselandia, however I do find myself completely emptying the good ole kraft grated parmesan shaker every time I have anything resembling pasta, so I'd say I love me some parmesan. Given this, I had no idea there was any difference between these two types of cheeses. Thanks to this combo, I do now. Both cheeses are wonderful and have all that punch I love from parmesan, the Parmigiano Reggiano has a bit more sour, and buttery taste than the Grana Padano Stravecchio Ordo Del Temp (copied and pasted that fyi). I have been enlightened. Thank you iGourmet.com. (oh, they're both excellent, and my advice is to get them)

Excellent!
It was a great experience all the way around. I ordered it for a friend and it was delivered when they said it would be and he said they were delicious! It turned out to be a great surprise and treat and I would order from you all again.

Grand Padano
I ordered this cheese for my daughter and son-in-law and they absolutely loved it. My daughter said she could have eaten the whole thing--it was so tasty. This was a Christmas gift so it made me feel great that it was something they thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you for providing top-of-the-line products

Classic Italian Hard Cheese Comparison
I lived in Italy from 1967 to 1969 and enjoyed these types of wonderful cheeses in the trattorias of Northern Italy. They have been difficult to find where I live. These hard cheeses take me back to that time. Thanks!

Yum
Love the cheeses. Your website is great and the delivery service is quick. The selection you offer is excellent and your prices are competitive. Since our "local" cheese shop is not close, we like to use your site

Amazing
Grana Padano may be the best cheese ever created. This duo allows you to compare it with the Parmigiano Reggiano - which is also delicious.
