Made for those cheese lovers with a taste for robust flavors and aromatic cheeses. Our French Cheeses for the Connoisseur is perfect for a Francophile-centric fromagier, or anyone looking to enjoy some bold selections of French cheese classics. We have included four of our favorites (a virtually impossible decision).
Cheeses include:
  • Pont L'Eveque: One of the world's ancient cheeses, Pont L'Eveque is a small washed-rind cheese that dates back to the Thirteenth Century. It is well known for its delicate bouquet, which is said to be reminiscent of the Norman countryside. However, it does tend to have a strong, pungent aroma that is not for the timid. (8 oz)
  • Comte Reserve: Comte is made with fresh Alpine milk and formed into 80-pound wheels. This extraordinary cheese is a noticeable upgrade from our base Comte, more complex and nutty. Comte Reserve has a pronounced nose and is a divine treasure cherished by connoisseurs. (1/2 lb )
  • Buche de Chevre: This wonderful goat's milk cheese from Poitou in the Loire Valley comes to us in handcrafted wooden crates the most exquisite chevre we have ever tasted! When enjoying this cheese, you savor a delightful combination of flavors and textures in each bite. Buche de Chevre is a true delicacy that begs for a warm, crusty French baguette and a glass of robust red wine from neighboring Bordeaux. (1/2 lb )
  • Fourme d'Ambert: This AOC (name controlled) creamy blue cheese is a lovely French treasure. Fourme d'Ambert is cave-aged for a minimum of two months, made from raw cow's milk and has a tremendous, creamy, full-bodied flavor. (1/2 lb )
Please note that any item temporarily out of stock will be substituted with a similar item of equal value.

What’s the best way to store my cheese?
The best way to keep cheese fresh is to store it in the vegetable crisper in your fridge. Before doing so, wrap in parchment or wax paper, then wrap loosely in plastic wrap. You can also buy our exclusive cheese storage bags, specially created to keep your cheese fresher, longer.

Unless used for cooking, we don’t recommend storing cheese in the freezer as this will alter its texture.

What is the best temperature to serve my cheese?
Remove cheese from the fridge an hour before serving, as cheese is best experienced at room temperature to enjoy the full spectrum of flavors.

How long will my cheese stay fresh in the refrigerator?
The length of time cheeses last in the fridge after opening depends largely on the type of cheese. Soft varieties tend to spoil more quickly than hard varieties. Please refer to the table below for a convenient reference:

How We Ship

FreshWave Packaging

Our products are always shipped so they will arrive at your door in optimal condition! We’ve carefully selected packaging options that have minimal impact on the environment without compromising on food safety or quality.

For perishable orders, we line our shipping boxes with Tempguard - a unique, padded insulator made of 100% pre-consumer recycled paper material. We further control the temperature with recycled kraft paper fill and non-toxic frozen gel packs. In the summer months, we may include dry ice to ensure fresh delivery in very hot weather.

Note: Please join our efforts to be mindful of our environment and extend the life-cycle of our packaging, by recycling your shipping box, Tempguard liner, and kraft fill (all 100% curbside recyclable!). Store the gel packs in your freezer and reuse to keep your next picnic or road trip fare cool.
