Made in Monroe, Wisconsin, Beer Kaese is a robust and pungent American classic with a German/Swiss pedigree. Containing no beer, this cheese was registered in 1933 as a celebratory salute to the repeal of Prohibition, hence the name "Beer" Kaese. The unique flavor of Beer Kaese comes from aging. It is shelf-cured, resulting in an aromatic, golden yellow rind. Beer Kaese has an earthy, slightly tangy, full-bodied flavor which makes it an excellent pairing with rye or pumpernickel bread and a slice of onion with a glass of red wine or, preferably, beer. Alternatively, try this cheese served for dessert with a glass of port. This is a great cheese for fans of Limburger, Brick, or Liederkranz.

Suitable for vegetarians.

  • Made from pasteurized cow's milk.

Great Cheese!!
I was in Japan the first time I ate some of this type cheese. My wife cut it for a friend and I and while doing so gagged, she is not a lover of stinky cheeses. I was pleased when I saw this on the cheese list at igourmet and got some in my last order. It arrived in a timely manner in excellent condition and tastes just as good as I remembered. A bit like a Limburger but a bit mellower. I will be reordering this in the future.

Igourmet was so helpful when I talked to them regarding shipping the beer kaese cheese the the hot weather. Guaranteed me they ship the night before the date I CHOSE to be delivered. My uncle who lives in he air force retirement home was telling me now much he loved beer kaese but can't find it in D.C. SO I wanted to surprise him. It was delivers right on time and he said it is delicious! Couldn't have asked for a better experience. Thank you so much. Will definitely order again!!!

Made My Dad Happy!
My dad craves beer kaese cheese, and it's difficult to find. After sending him some from igourmet a few years ago, he was longing for it again, so I sent him some more as a Christmas present. Talked to him on Christmas Day and he was raving about how great it was. Thanks for offering this product and for making my father happy!

Very Aromatic
Wonderfully aromatic cheese. I actually bought this for April Fools. Created a gift basket including many items from for the perfect 'gift'. Once opened, the smell of this cheese FILLS the room. And, it's a very pungent smell. One year I gave a similar gift basket to my son and his, then, girlfriend. He, in turn, hid it in his roommate's college dorm so as to add that really special scent to the dorm room. The gift that just kept on giving!

Beer Kaese cheese
I did not care for the strong smell or taste of this item. Maybe it is an acquired taste.

Beer Kaese used to be fairly easy to find. No longer. Beer Kaese I've found in the last 15 years has often been blah, or so "loud" I questioned whether it was fit to eat. For a cheese lover, this is a moderate cheese. It is also very smooth and creamy. Try it, you'll love it. Beer Kaese is one of very few truly American cheeses. We need to eat more of it.
