Among the lush hills of Tuscany, IL Forteto gathers its premium honey. Acacia Forteto honey is made from nectar collected from spring-blossoming Acacia trees, resulting in pure, clear honey. Drizzle over a slice of Tuscan pecorino or a piece of gorgonzola. The sweetness is a perfect balance to the tang of these and other salted cheeses. |

An evoker of fond childhood memories in most British ex-pats, this syrup is similar in consistency to corn syrup and has a clear, golden color. It's made from evaporated sugar cane juice and has a rich, toasty flavor unmatched by any other sweetener. Our golden syrup comes to us from the UK sugar giant Tate & Lyle in their signature green tins, marked by their powerful mascot, the lion. Spread some on a slice of warm bread or pour it over your pancakes or ice cream. It can be used in any way you would use corn syrup and will add an extra-special flavor to your recipes. Used in and on puddings by the Brits, Lyle's Golden Syrups performs very nicely in cooking and baking. |

This extraordinary honey originates from the Alentejo region of Portugal. An abundance of lavender thrives in this untamed area, allowing bees to propagate freely. The result is a sparkling golden honey. Previously offered on igourmet with a selection of nuts, we are now pleased to carry this lavender honey on its own. Try this floral honey on desserts and ice cream, or use to glaze chicken breast and shrimp, or to add sweetness to vinaigrettes. |

For 9,000 years we have been collecting honey from the honeybee. Known as the "nectar of the gods" by the Greeks, this was the only sweetener for people of antiquity. The D'arbo family has been producing fine preserves and honey since 1879 in Austria. Their honey is made from the sweet clovers favored by bees of the genus "Melilotus." The main use of the abundant and pretty clover is to feed animals and provide nectar for bees. The female worker bee lives but six to eight weeks and only produces 1/12th of a tsp. of honey in her lifetime! Just think how many bees it took to produce this 1.1 lb. jar of honey! Golden and pure, D'arbo's clover honey is rich and creamy with an exceptional flavor and a clean, rounded natural sweetness. A must in every kitchen. |

Treacle is a byproduct of sugar refining, similar to molasses, and is widely used in cooking and baking in the United Kingdom. Black treacle has a slightly burnt flavor that is somewhat stronger than that of molasses. It lends a powerful, rich flavor to toffee, breads, cakes, and sauces. The manufacturer, Tate & Lyle, was founded by the merger of two nineteenth-century sugar refineries in 1921 and is the UK's largest cane sugar refining company. The company also operates the world's largest sugar refinery and produces Domino Sugar in the United States. Lyle's Black Treacle comes in a charming red tin that is emblazoned with the company's bold mascot, the lion. Try it spread on warm bread or drizzled over puddings. It makes a deliciously different substitute for molasses in any recipe. |
