Sugar cane is a perennial plant which can grow up to 5 meters tall with the canes reaching a diameter of 3-6 cm. The canes ripen between September and November when they are cut by hand and crushed. The juice is called “vedou” and is obtained after many technical processes of purification, concentration, and crystallization, but without any chemical interference.

Sugar cane flourishes in the warm humid climate of the Reunion Island (located in the Indian Ocean) with its fertile and well irrigated soil.

Crystals of natural brown cane sugar from Sainte Marie in the Reunion Island will add sweetness, fullness of flavor, and a touch of crunchiness to a plain yogurt or an exotic pastry; to a chilled sabayon or a golden caramel; to homemade jam or sorbet of summer fruits. Give a festive air to your desserts.

Organic Icing Sugar is a rich, creamy, mellow powdered sugar produced by simply pulverizing Organic Cane Sugar. Use as a 1-for-1 replacement for refined icing sugar. This sugar is perfect for dusting, frosting, and fillings for any cake, pastry, or confection you whip up. The Fair Trade label guarantees the consumer a fair price is paid directly to the farmer for the sugar cane they grow. Wholesome Sweeteners Organic Fair Trade Powdered Sugar is made from 100% certified organic sugarcane, grown and produced without the use of herbicides, pesticides, or chemicals. Their powdered sugar is made by simply grinding their Organic Sugar to a fine, creamy powder consistency and adding 3% organic cornstarch to prevent caking. It is rich in molasses, vitamins, minerals, and trace elements naturally found in the sugarcane plant.

Unlike refined white powdered sugar with its overpowering, harsh, chalky sweetness, Wholesome Sweeteners Organic Fair Trade Powdered Sugar retains the cane's natural molasses to give a smooth, mellow, and rounded flavor. It is perfect for cookies, baking, dusting, frosting, and fillings. Use as a one-for-one replacement for refined powdered sugar. When making simple water icing, the organic powdered sugar gives a rich, golden honey color and mellow toffee flavor derived from the natural molasses retained in the unrefined, unbleached organic sugar.
  • Wholesome Sweeteners Organic Fair Trade Powdered sugar is USDA and QAI organically certified.
  • Kosher certified.

Organic Zero is produced from Organic Sugar Cane Juice, which is naturally fermented and crystallized to create the first organic erythritol. Erythritol is a naturally occurring sugar that is found in our bodies, as well as fruits and fermented foods such as soy sauce. Organic Zero also has no added flavors or intensive sweeteners; its only ingredient is organic erythritol.

You can use Organic Zero wherever you would use regular sugar and enjoy it without worrying about calories or artificial additives. Organic Zero is clean-tasting; it has no intense sweetener aftertaste and no unpleasant digestive side-effects. It is even “tooth-friendly,” as it reduces the plaque build-up which helps prevent tooth decay.

Perfect for sweetening hot and cold beverages, sprinkling on cereal and fruit, as well as baking—the ideal organic replacement for artificial sweeteners. Organic Zero is 70% as sweet as sugar so you may want to use a little more to sweeten your favorite food or drink, but with zero calories and zero on the Glycemic Index you can indulge with zero guilt!

Pearl sugar is granulated white sugar that has been processed into small, round grains that have been polished to a pearl-like sheen. Typically, pearl sugar is used in Scandinavia (and elsewhere) to decorate cookies, cakes, cinnamon rolls and much more.

Pearl Sugar is used to make the popular Belgian sugar waffles. Added to the dough, this imported sugar caramelizes when baking to create crunchy pockets of sweetness. Or, try adding some color to your baked goods by shaking the pearl sugar in a plastic bag with a few drops of food coloring. Either way you'll satisfy that sweet tooth!

"Demerara" refers to the place in Guyana where this type of large-crystaled sugar first originated many years ago. Billington's All-Natural Demerara Sugar is a crunchy, golden brown sugar with a sticky texture and rich aroma. Its large, sparkling champagne-colored crystals make it a terrific, crunchy topping on cookies, cakes, and desserts. It is also fantastic on grilled fruit, sprinkled on melons, and especially good in iced tea. In England, Demerara sugar is the traditional sweetener for coffee.
