Portuguese Olives Stuffed with Almonds
Long a symbol of peace, the olives are marvelous fruit original from the Mediterranean countries, particularly from Portugal. This ancient fruit is a healthy source of natural antioxidants and has many of the health benefits of olive oil. Because of the unique flavor and fine texture of the olives, it has become a delicate hors d'oeuvre. These almond-stuffed green olives are particularly eye-catching on an appetizer tray, but they will go well with any menu. We love these green olives drizzled with a little olive oil, some fresh oregano, and served with a few Portuguese cheeses. Produced by Nordeste, which along with meaning "northeast" is also a region of Portugal's Azores.
