Born and raised in Scranton, PA, Chef Mario grew up in his father’s restaurant, Whistles Pub & Eatery. It was there that he fell in love with the restaurant atmosphere and the energy of the kitchen, leading him to pursue a future involving food. After graduating from The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College in 2008, he began his own culinary career at Rustic Kitchen in Wilkes-Barre, PA. In 2012, Mario left his position at the University of Scranton to fulfill his dreams of creating an upscale food truck. Now, Mario is at the helm of What the FORK, overseeing all operations while ensuring the brand conveys his idea of creating a uniquely different and succulently satisfying experience. An avid lover of Alton Brown and sticky rice, Mario loves local ingredients and developing his own style of cuisine.
