La Quercia Prosciutto Piccante
is hand rubbed with a slightly hot Cal-Ital spice rub after the skin has been removed. The makers, Herb and Kathy Eckhouse of La Quercia, in Norwalk, Iowa, grind the spices themselves just before they rub them on the hams to maximize the freshness and fullness of their flavor and aroma. To create the unique flavor of this ham, they wanted something unique but classic, using traditional Italian flavors such as fennel and hot pepper to start the base of their custom made blend. This Piccante is great for home tapas or an antipasto, or used for snacking, in salads, omelets or sandwiches. Ingredients are only pork, sea salt, and spices.
Made from organic Berkshire cross pork raised with no antibiotics, no animal by products, and no added hormones.
