Organic Rainforest Foundation Project Blend Whole Bean Coffee
Irving Farm created this blend by roasting each of these coffees separately to highlight the components of each coffee. The final product is a cup that is full bodied and robust, yet balanced with sweetness and without roast-driven flavors like smoke. $1 from the sale of each bag is donated by Irving Farm to The Rainforest Foundation. Irving Farm sources the beans from farmers who care about their land and the environment.

Honduras: The town of Capucas, Honduras, is home to just over 80 families who produce coffee. Many of the farmers also have small "micro-mills" to process their coffee and then sell through the coop. The farmers take great pride in their coffee plantations: they discussed with gusto, different pruning techniques, processing experiments and which varietals they planted to produce the best coffees. The farmers in Capucas have obtained Organic, Fair Trade and Rainforest certifications to reflect their commitment to their environment and fair social ethic.

Peru: Cooperative Agraria Cafetalera La Florida (CAC La Florida) in Peru was formed in 1966 to give the producers in this area a means to gain access to markets for their coffee. Over the years their work has increased food sustainability in the region, encouraging farmers to have livestock, bees and other food crops. Coffee, however, is their main crop, and this one is an excellent example of their capabilities. CAC La Florida also works with their producers to ensure they use the best agricultural practices; since 2006 they have increased their organic certified coffee production by 30%. The cooperative is also Fair Trade and Bird Friendly certified.

Timor: A part of Indonesia until 1999, East Timor is now a soveriegn state. In 2000 a band of small farmers came together to form Cooperativa Cafe Timor (CCT). The goal of this cooperative is to gain access to the international market. To achieve this goal they obtained Fair Trade and Organic Certifications. All of the coffee that CCT grows is Organic. From the original small group of farmers it has grown to now include 19,600 members.
