This unusual Dutch cheese is a twist on the traditional, double-cream Roomkaas Gouda. When a cheesemaker made the mistake of curing his creamy Gouda cheese at a warmer, Kernhem was born! This cheese is slightly aromatic, as the rind is washed repeatedly during aging.
which means "knife-sticker", gets its name from its soft, slightly-tacky texture. It is a rich, savory cheese with a brothy finish. Kernhem goes well on sandwiches, melted into sauces, or with fruit.
Made from pasteurized cow's milk.
