Free-Range Heritage Turkey (16 to 20 pound)
Enjoy this unique and rare bird for the Holidays. Our Heritage breed is a Bourbon Red, raised free-range and like all our poultry, antibiotic free, and free of any hormones or growth stimulants. They are fed an all-vegetarian diet on small sustainable farms in the Amish country of central Pennsylvania. Heritage turkeys have a relatively long lifespan and a much slower growth rate than turkeys bred for industrial agriculture. The Heritage Turkey retains historic characteristics no longer present in commercial breeds of turkeys. Heritage turkeys are raised in a manner that more closely matches the natural behavior and life cycle of wild turkeys. This turkey can fly, is leaner and with a stronger flavor; not as strong as a wild turkey but very flavorful. While there are hundreds of millions of industrial turkeys raised for consumption, only tens of thousands of true Heritage birds are available.
