Aged for 12 months, Anchor Sharp Cheddar Cheese is made with milk and cream from grass-fed, pasture raised cared New Zealand cows. Their free range cows feast upon endless grazing pastures of lush sweet green grass year round. Balanced yet mature, this cheddar has a firm, smooth texture and dense mouthfeel. Excellent on its own or for cooking.

Anchor has been around for more than 130 years. Henry Reynolds, who founded Anchor, arrived in New Zealand from Cornwall in 1868. His Anchor butter was recognized for its quality and soon went onto win a gold medal at the Melbourne Exhibition in 1888. In 1950, Anchor began to produce cheese.

The valued brand went from strength to strength and Henry decided to sell Anchor to the New Zealand Dairy Association in 1896 which was to become part of Fonterra Co-operative in 2001. Owned by 10,500 farmers, it is now the New Zealand's largest company.

Mainland Sharp Grass Fed New Zealand Cheddar
I blame myself, but it's salty and not sharp. However, as I stated, at my age, my taste buds aren't what they used to be along with my other senses.

Wonderful, sharp, tangy taste. Equally great in sandwich or cut slices on a cheese plate. Not salty or briny tasting.

Bitter Aftertaste
Really strong bitter flavor to this cheese--it overpowers any creamy flavor that this cheese may have; texture is good for aged cheddar

Satisfying cheddar
This is a very satisfying cheddar that should please anyone who likes a sharp cheese. It's not over-powering, so those that prefer a seriously sharp cheddar may want another selection, while choosing this for guests who can't handle the super sharp varieties.

Superior Cheddar
An excellent cheddar. A little crumbly when cutting, but a full and excellent cheddar flavor and strong tang - goes very well with pickle. I was most pleasantly surprised by this offering and would recommend it to anyone.
