Harissa is a spice blend that has long been used in Moroccan cuisine, and it is becoming more commonly used in the United States and Europe. The spice blend usually consists of various roasted chili peppers (indigenous to the region where it is made), toasted cumin seeds, coriander seeds, smoked paprika, chopped parsley, kosher salt, and garlic. These spices are then ground, added to some olive oil and formed into a paste of the consistency needed.

For those who enjoy the sharp, robust, tangy flavor of a delicious English cheddar yet are looking for a bit more of a bite…we have just the cheese for you! I wasn't sure if I liked this at first, but it did grow on me. The texture is more of a processed cheese than a true cheddar, & it's a little on the salty side, but again - interesting.

Enjoying this purchase-the blend of the Harissa and the English cheddar is exceptional-works deliciously well together with some Mexican dishes , if you can keep it on hand long enough!

I don't know if I was eating the same cheese as the other reviewers...but the cheese I had was awful! I had one bite and had to spit it out, as did my boyfriend. I'm an advid cheese lover and I have had wonderful cheeses from igourmet but this one I would NOT recommend. Splurge on other cheeses from the website. I was thoroughly disappointed and had to throw it out. If you're looking for English Cheddar with a twist, try the English Cheddar with Caramelized onions. To die for, you won't be able to get enough!!

A multitude of uses for this cheese!
There is so much flavor packed into this cheese. Alone, at room temperature with a tiny square of toast or a cracker, this goes so well with cocktails. You can also add to your favorite dish. This is a wonderful cheese.

Amazing! And this is coming from a spice weenie!
I'll admit - I bought this cheese for my husband, and was nervous about trying it. I'm very sensitive to "heat" from spices, and am often pained by things my husband doesn't even register. I thought this would be a "one bite only" cheese, but it isn't. Yes, it *does* hurt my mouth after a few bites, but it really isn't bad. And I gladly suffer through the pain because the flavor is INCREDIBLE. Awesome cheddar with perfect spices. And my husband - the heat lover - agrees, though in opposite to my reasons (he loves it in spite of his perceived "lack of heat"). I've wracked my brain, and can think of no way to improve it. It is absolutely worth a try, no matter what end of the spice spectrum you prefer!

Great Cheese
Delicious creamy English cheddar with a punch of tangy harissa with every bite. Honestly, the Harissa reminds my girlfriend and I of pizza but I read the other review that compared the flavor to vodka sauce- I think both are appropriate. The cheese made an excellent cheese sandwich. However, I think the cheese loses its personality once melted - it mostly just tasted like the Harissa. I made a second sandwich and added a few pieces of lomo iberico de bellota and it was delicious, although I think each product is far better on its own. Overall, great cheese.
