DOP Molise Extra Virgin Olive Oil Blend by Marina Colonna - 750ml
The finest estate production, a Gran Cru among olive oils, the Colonna DOP Molise (Protected Denomination of Origin) has won many prestigious awards over the years and continues in the pursuit of excellence. Leccino, Rosciola and Gentile di Larino are the three varieties inherent to the Molise region which are grown on the estate and selected for this extra virgin olive oil. Golden yellow with clear hints of green, it has a potent and complex bouquet with clear tones of bitter tomato and banana, enhanced with floral notes – mimosa and wisteria. The flavor is compelling and refined with the taste of fresh vegetables, balsamic tones of basil, mint and sage and an afteratse of almond. Medium fruity with harmonious balance between bitter and spicy.

Masseria Bosco Pontoni is near San Martino in Pensilis, 120 meters above sea level. Situated on the border between Molise and Puglia, the estate has been in the Colonna family since the start of the 19th century when Prospero Colonna received the land from the Duchess Cattaneo di Sannicandro as part of her dowry.T he land is hilly with medium-textured soil, partially south facing. This stunning estate has vast stretches of olive groves, wheat and sunflowers. Herons, hawks and migratory birds pause to feed at the estate’s three artificial lakes, the first innovative project in Southern Italy carried out by don Francesco in the early 1960s.

The Colonna Estate dedicates 70 of its 320 hectares to olive groves with more than 20 different varieties included the prestigious ones that combine to make the DOP Molise extra virgin olive oil. The farming techniques have a low impact on the environment and the harvest takes place early, using mechanical combs followed by immediate extraction in the estate’s oil mill with its continuous cycle cold press.
