Family farms in Iowa provide the exceptionally fresh milk that forms the backbone of Prairie Breeze's smooth, grassy flavor. Prairie Breeze is characterized as a hybrid between cheddar and the Alpine-style of Emmental cheeses. Yet it has nutty tones and a savory finish that distinguish it from all other cheddars. It's this interplay on the palate that keeps you reaching for "just one more" taste of this unique cheese. Although drier in texture than cheddar, it still melts well when you're looking to add a subtle nuance to your culinary endeavors. Milton Creamery, located in the Village of Milton, nestled in the rural countryside of Southeast Iowa, is where the Musser's, Rufus, Jane and Galen, find joy and fulfillment in their chosen occupation - handcrafting artisan cheeses.

The Mussers use high quality milk with no added RBST, produced on small Amish farms in the surrounding area to make an elite line of specialty cheese. Local farmers use time-honored methods, such as grazing in season, hand milking, and cooling the milk in bulk tanks. The Mussers bring the fresh milk into the plant, pasteurize it and make small batches of cheese using a special blend of cultures and a labor-intensive process for unique flavorful cheeses. The result is an array of artisan cheeses to tempt any appetite. Gute appetite!

A Cheddar like no other
Prairie Breeze Cheddar is a delicately sweet nutty cheddar with grassy undertones. It''s texture has a distinct crystal structure that provides a pleasing variety of textures in each bite. after trying it only a short time ago, it has quickly become my new favorite cheese.

Great sharp cheese!
From Milton Creamery who makes the wonderful Flory''s Truckle cheddar. This is sharp like Vermont white cheddar but has a slightly different flavor profile. Like all igourmet cheese because it is kryovaced it does not absorb off flavors that saran wrapped store cheese has. A-/B+

Best cheese ever!!!
This cheese is amazing. Great flavor, and the crystals are perfect. Problem is, don''t put this out with company or they eat it all.

Outstanding Must Have
We tried this yummy cheese while teaveling in CA this past summer and fell head over heels with it. Creamy, sweet/sharp/tangy all EOE flavor. Our perfect go-to for grilled cheese sandwiches with pears or simply paired with sliced apples, English oat biscuit or cracker.

Love the crunch
This is wonderful cheddar. I note that one reviewer did not like the crunch. The crunch makes the cheese.

The Betta Chedda
Was addicted to 2-year reserve Grafton cheddar in the wax, but was no longer able to find it near me. Tried this on a recommendation and love it. Great flavor and love the texture, which crumbles very slightly.

Good only if like crunchy cheese
I disliked this cheese so much I threw most of it away. Certainly not smooth, as described. Site indicates crunchy texture is from calcium deposits. Yuk!

Fantastic unique cheddar!
This cheddar is so delicious. Cook's Illustrated rated it as the best cheddar in their artisinal cheddar taste test (also highly recommended by them was the Cabot Clothbound from Jasper Hill). I've tasted a lot of good cheddars (though I'm no expert), and this is my favorite for plain snacking and in any recipes where the cheese is a prominent flavor (great in grilled cheese sandwiches, grits, etc.). It has a little more mild flavor than the clothbound cabot in terms of the sourness of a strong Cheddar, so in some recipes with tons of other ingredients, it can be a little washed out. But in recipes with just a few ingredients, this is definitely the best cheddar you can use with such yummy, complex flavors. As a plain snacking cheese, it's also fantastic. Highly recommended and I'll be buying it again!

Cheddar lover's special treat
This one never makes it into cooking or salads but is nibbled down to nothing in just a few days.
